Notes:
Island Open Rated Sections
· Where an Island Junior Open event is divided into two or more sections based on Rating (other than Novice), the lower rated sections will receive ½ of the normal point structure.
Island Open Novice Section
Where a Novice section is created at any Island Junior Open event, the Novice point structure below will apply. Novice players are defined as unrated beginners, or players rated 750 or below. Players with a higher provisional rating may be allowed to play as Novices at the Tournament Director’s discretion.
· Novice Section Points:
1st – 10 pts
2nd – 8 pts
3rd – 7 pts
4th on – 5 pts
Tie Breaks
At all eligible Grand Prix tournaments, tie breaks will be by 5 minute blitz knockout. Tie breaks are for the three place medals only, they do not affect grand prix point assignment.
Tie Points
At all eligible Grand Prix tournaments, all players tied after completion of tournament rounds share equally in the tied place grand prix points.
For example, two players are tied for first and three players are tied for third, the first two share the grand prix points for first and second place. The next three share the grand prix points for third, fourth and fifth place.
